JAKARTA - Students' interest to enroll in State Islamic Religious College (PTKIN) every year continues to increase. This is evidenced by the number of students enrolled through the National Academic Achievement Selection (SPAN).
This was disclosed by the Chairman of PTKIN Rector Forum, Prof. Dr. Dede Rosyada, MA, PTKIN number of participants this time very significant and the higher enthusiasm.
"The presentation is very high and the expectation of religious study program is increasing," said Dede Rosyada during SPAN PTKIN Selection Result 2017 in Jakarta on Saturday (29/4).
Dede revealed, until the end of registration in April 7, 2017, the number of students who register reached 157,039.
"This number increased 21.4 percent compared to the 2016 which 129,327 registrants, they are competing for 65,210 quotas which provided in this year", he said.
On same occasion, Chairman of SPAN-UM PTKIN 2017, Prof. Dr. H. Abd A'la, M.Ag said, the big interest from students to register shows their great trust to PTKIN as a place to study in college.
In addition, Abd A'la said that the interest of participants is also influenced by the change of a number of State Islamic Institute (IAIN) to State Islamic University (UIN).
"The attractiveness of this is proven by the five favorite PTKIN chosen by the applicant of State Islamic University. The five UIN's are UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang and UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya," said Abd A'la.
Furthermore, Abd A'la said, for favorite courses of choice students, Islamic economics and syariah banking is still the main choice. It is proven that in almost all PTKIN which have sharia economics and sharia banking, there is tight competition to compete for quota.
"The most intense competition occurs in the sharia banking program at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah. While the sharia economic program at UIN Sunan Ampel a favorite choice based on the first choice of students," he concluded.
