JAKARTA - This year, Indonesian government will add the main weaponry system (defense equipment) with purchase eight units Apache AH-64E helicopters, 12 unit Chinook helicopter and five units of military transport aircraft Airbus A400M Atlas.

At Monday, March 6, 2017, A400M plane is already doing promotions with a stopover at Halim Perdanakusuma airport to be introduced to potential buyers in Indonesia, the Indonesian Air Force (AU).

Minister of Defense, Ryamizard Ryacudu said the purchase of defense equipment are part of the fulfillment of minimum basic strength of defense (minimum essential force/MEF).

The purchase of A400M to replace the Hercules aircraft since the aircraft has a carrying capacity of twice that of Hercules and to support the mobility of the Indonesian military.

"The A400M has twice the capacity of Hercules and higher cruising. Besides fuel economy. Similarly, the Chinook," Ryamizard said in Jakarta, Thursday (9/3).

Nevertheless, continued Ryamizard, this purchase will still be in accordance with the operational standards and procedures (SOP).

"The Ministry of Defence does not impose. Purchases must be according to SOP and dependent users, namely the military," he said.

He also said the Ministry of Defence holds only what is requested by any force, namely the Army, Navy, and Air Force. If the defense equipment is no match, Ministry of Defense ready to discuss with each force.
