JAKARTA - Indonesian police has been waiting for Malaysias investigation report on the alleged involvement of an Indonesian woman in the assassination of Kim Jong-nam, step brother of North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un in Malaysia.

"Until now, we are still waiting for a formal information from the Malaysian police, because there is a procedure that should be done for this," a spokesman of the Indonesian police, Inspector General Boy Rafli Amar said.

Boy admitted that he came to know the information from news reports, but there has not yet been any formal information on the issue.

The Malaysian police is expected to send a formal notification on the result of investigation within the next two or three days, Boy added. Therefore, the Indonesian Police could not take further action to track the identity of the Indonesian woman, reportedly a resident of Serang, Banten.

"There is no tracking of identity by the police, except that there was a request from Malaysia to the Indonesian police to assist with the investigation process," he continued.

Earlier in the day, a spokesman of the Foreign Affairs Ministry Arrmanatha Nasir said that the authority has tried to verify the authenticity of the passport held by the women identified as Siti Aishah, who was allegedly involved in the assassination of Kim Jong-nam.

The Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has asked for legal assistance to be provided to the woman, especially after she was found to be an Indonesian.

Malaysian Police Chief Inspector General Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar was quoted by The Star as saying that a female with Indonesian passport was detained on Thursday at 02.00 am. Her identity in the passport showed that she was born on Feb 11, 1992.

Jon-nam (45) was killed by two female suspects who splashed his face with chemicals at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA 2) on Monday as he was about to leave for Macau.

The two women escaped by a taxi, but one suspect identified as Doan Thi Huong, aged 29 and holding a Vietnamese passport, was arrested on Wednesday at the airport when she tried to leave the country.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Foreign Ministry confirmed, the alleged perpetrator of murder of Kim Jong-nam is an Indonesian citizen (WNI). Certainty is obtained after the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia match the data in the passport offender with existing data in the embassy system.

"Embassy has been verified and based on the data while in the embassy, the woman status is the citizen," said Director of the Citizens
Protection and Indonesia Legal Entities (PWNI-BHI), Lalu Muhammad Iqbal in Jakarta, Thursday (16/2).
