JAKARTA - Hearing the name of Boven Digoel, definitely our minds instantly reminded of the exile of the founders of this nation in the era of the Dutch colonists. This place where figures like Mohammad Hatta and Sutan Sjahrir had disposed of the Dutch colonizers.
But in Boven Digoel movie, you'd be wrong if I think the story about the history of these leaders while undergoing a period of exile in eastern Papua.
This time, Boven Digoel tells a struggle of John Manangsang (Joshua Matulessy) who have experienced a variety of human tragedy while on duty to help people in Tanah Merah, Boven Digoel. In his job as a doctor, John had to deal with a lot of typical villagers who still believe in the healing methods of disease via village shaman.

"We hope the president can watch. I know he always took a movie Indonesia in the midst of him," Christine said during a press conference Digoel movie in Jakarta, Monday (6/2).
Christine had a good reason why she hoped so much. She convinced if film which directed by FX Purnomo can be a medium to open their eyes, especially the president about what is happening in Papua today.
"We know the commitment Mr Jokowi for build Papua. Five times he visited Papua. He seriously wanted to wake up Papua," said Christine.
