BANDUNG - Police set Islam Defenders Front (FPI) leader, Rizieq Shihab as suspect for alleged defamation of state ideology, Pancasila and first president Soekarno, which reported to the police by Sukmawati Soekarnoputri, Soekarno’s daughter.
“Investigator raised Rizieq Shihab status from wittnes to suspect,” said West Java Police spokesman, Senior Commision Yusri Yunus at the West Java Police headquarters in Bandung, Monday (30/1).
Yusri added, Rizieq’s status raised after case screening.
According to him, investigator asking about a week's for bring a suspect.
"Just bring a lawyer, do not bring masses again," he added.
Rizieq charged under Article 154 of the Criminal Code with maximum penalty four years and Article 310 with penalty of nine months in prison.
"There will be no detention for under five years threat," he said
Rizieq also being investigated by the Jakarta Police for allegedly defaming the national currency in his remarks that new Rupiah bills displayed communist symbols.
