KUALA LUMPUR - Asian Football Confederation (AFC) cancels 29 games of Timor Leste, five are against Indonesia. This follows the results of the investigation that identified 12 players Timor Leste national team since 2012 is false.
All 12 players it is a Brazilian-born. They are listed in the administrative system and the AFC indetified Timor Leste falsified birth or baptismal certificate.
"The investigation found no validity citizenship of Timor Leste, which made them. That is the question to the state authorities of Timor Leste. Nine players participated in a total of 29 games under the jurisdiction of the AFC and seven games under the jurisdiction of FIFA," writes AFC.
AFC investigation was opened on 9 June 2016. This is to find out the feasibility of a player representing Timor Leste national team at Asian Cup in 2019 in the qualification playoffs at 2 and June 6, 2016. The investigations conducted in conjunction with FIFA.
Because of that too, AFC Disciplinary Committee banned Timor Leste from the Asian Cup in 2023 and was fined US$20 thousand or approximately Rp267.5 million.
Secretary General of the Timor Leste Football Federation (FFTL), Amandio de Araujo Sarmento was also sentenced to a ban on the activity in football for three years and fined US$9 thousand or Rp120 million rupiah.
"The Committee then ordered, in connection with the twenty-nine games, where there are players who do not qualify deployed, FFTL lost their matches and fined US$56 thousand and suspended two years trial period," continued AFC.
Officials FFTL, Gelasio De Silva Carvalho was also fined US$three thousand for being involved makes the game becomes bad and disturbing witnesses.
"The decision of the AFC Disciplinary Committee has been notified to FFTL. FIFA has asked Amandio decision to have an effect on the whole world and told FFTL featuring players who did not qualify in seven matches of FIFA," said AFC.
