Clumsy, Judicial Commission Should Checked Sony Sandra Verdict

SURABAYA - A number of irregularities seen in the verdict against Sony Sandra, perpetrators of wanton against 58 minors in Kediri. Two District Court (PN), each PN of Kediri City and PN Kediri district decide the sentence below standards of the applicable provisions.
Irregularities this verdict makes Social Minister, Khofifah Indar Parawansa ask the Judicial Commission (KY) for checking a verdict of nine years and a fine of Rp250 million imposed PN Kediri city.
"I met a boy who becomes a victim to him, but the boy did not answer anything, he seemed deeply traumatized enough, therefore I guess KY need to go down," said Khofifah in Surabaya.
To note, the judge sentenced Sony Sandra involved in cases immoral and copulation in children with a nine year prison sentence and a fine of Rp250 million in a trial in the District Court (PN) of Kediri city, Thursday (19/5).
Khofifah said, she wondered why verdict of perpetrators could be lighter than the provisions which should.
"If Child Protection Act to give maximum penalties of 15 years and a fine of Rp 5 billion, but only hit nine years and a fine of Rp250 million, certainly not comparable to the trauma experienced by dozens of children who are victims," she said.
Indeed, if the victim's still children and can occur in trauma and long term, it can get a weighting for life and the death penalty.
"If the victim more than one child, it can be added to the punishment of chemical castration, electronic detection devices or publish the identity," said Khofifah.
