JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confiscated a total of Rp 1.7 billion ($130,000) in six different currencies from the home of Supreme Court secretary, Nurhadi in a raid last week.

KPK spokeswoman, Yuyuk Andriati said Nurhadi's home in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta was raided on April 21.

“We confiscated the money because we suspect it has something to do with an ongoing (corruption) case currently being investigated (by the KPK). We're looking at the money trail. (Nurhadi) had not been interrogated (about where the money came from),” Yuyuk said Wednesday (27/4).

The case the spokeswoman referred to was the arrest of Supreme Court bailiff, Edy Nasution who allegedly received more than Rp 50 million in bribes from a middleman. The bribe money, KPK thinks is linked to a case review the Supreme Court was hearing.

Nurhadi has not been charged and the KPK has not stated in what ways he is supposedly tied to the bailiff's bribery case.

“Is there any connection between the money Edy received with the money found in Nurhadi's home? This is what we are trying to investigate,” Yuyuk said.
