JAKARTA - Discrimination occurs happened in Etihad Air flight route Jakarta to Geneva. A female passenger who was also with disabilities are not allowed to participate in this plane cause being unable to save themselves at a critical moment.
Passenger named Dwi Ariyani (36), a wheelchair user asked to come down from United Arab Emirates international airline flights from Jakarta-Geneva which well known traveling alone with a wheelchair.
"When told to go down, I told the chairman of the flight crew that this discrimination, contrary to the disability rights convention," Dwi said as quoted by Tempo on Sunday (3/4).
Dwi told, he has entered and sat in the plane. Shortly before take off, she approached the EY471 flight crew coded.
"The plane will take off at 00:15 (Sunday), written on the ticket. I was already on the plane, instead of my stuff already on baggage," he said.
When she saw him alone, the crew considers Dwi will be difficulties in flight emergency situations.
"So, as I am a wheelchair user, she said later I can not evacuate themselves if there is an accident," said this woman from Solo, Central Java.
Dwi can not accept the reasons that makes her can not fly to Geneva, Switzerland.
"I have experience flying everywhere, no one ever said that I could not help myself. Permission from immigration else I've got, really," she said.
According to Dwi, compensation already gotten tickets from airline representatives who were at the Soekarno-Hatta. Once out of the airport, Dwi was staying at the Hotel FM7, Tangerang.
"On this matter, I have been connected with the Legal Aid Institute (LBH) Jakarta for treatment was contrary to the rights of people with disabiitas," he said.
