MEXICO CITY - The beauty queen lover of notorious druglord El Chapo has been allowed to visit him after he complained he has been separated from friends and family since his recapture.
Emma Coronel, 26, is known for being the mother of two of Joaquin Guzman Loera’s daughters, Maria Joaquina and Emmaly Gaudalupe.
But, according to Mexican authorities, they are not legally married, not surprising as he would have been arrested if he had turned up at a registry office to have the marriage listed, and also to divorce his estranged wife Alejandrina Maria Salazar Hernandez.
Nevertheless Emma Coronel is known as the 58-year-old druglord’s wife and when he was imprisoned between 2014 and 2015, she was allowed to make a total of 46 visits to him in the Altiplano maximum security prison in Mexico.
This time round however she was refused until she turned up bringing the birth certificates of her two daughters showing El Chapo is their father and as a result gaining admission.
Authorities said they had also allowed him a visit from one of his sisters.
Emma Coronel was the winner of the 2008 Miss Sinaloa beauty contest. Sinaloa is the state where El Chapo’s cartel, one of the biggest drug trafficking players in the world, is based.
