BANDAR SRI BEGAWAN - Brunei Darussalam Government will implement stoning for homosexuals in the country. This penalty will also be imposed for adultery in a country which started this year to apply the sharia law.

As reported by the Huffington Post, the Sultanate of Brunei has revised the state criminal law and replace it with Sharia law. In the new law, execution by stoning to be applied to the adultery, extramarital relationships, rape, and sodomy usual gay.

The death penalty will also be given on the charge of defamation of the verses of the Al Quran and the Hadith, the prophet confessed, and murder.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah decision is condemnation from the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UHCHR). In a statement, Commissioner UHCHR Rupert Colville said that the death penalty for a wide range of actions called a violation of international law.

"We urge the government to postpone the implementation of the revision of the law and conduct a comprehensive review to ensure compliance with international human rights standards," said Colville.
