BAHRAIN - Indonesian racers from "Jagonya Chicken with Carlin" team, Sean Gelael determined to rise again in the second race, or "sprint race" at the Bahrain International Circuit on Saturday (21/11/2015). In the first race series to 10 GP2, Friday (20/11/2015), Sean achieve results less satisfactory
"I've already moved from what happened in the first race. Now is the time to prepare for 'sprint race' and strive to perform better," said 19 year old rider in a press release received here on Saturday.
In the first race or the "future race" which took place on Friday (20/11), Sean's car engine suddenly stalled when the race about to start. This made him lose 40 seconds from his competitors in a race that lasted for a total 32 laps.
Despite being in the rearmost position, Sean managed to sharpen the record time in every sector until he was able to post the best score of 1 minute 46.608 seconds on 14th lap.
At that time, the son of former national rider Ricardo Gelael performed consistently and fairly solid wading along the 5.412-kilometer track that has 15 turns. His struggle earned him at 23rd, or better than his start positions. GP2 race is known to be very competitive and not easy, especially for Sean who was more active in the Formula Renault 3.5 World Series.
Racing in Bahrain is the debut of Sean who began his career in the event "single seater" three years ago. The experience of performing in the race is expected to be capital to achieve better results in the sprint race today.
"I've already known a bit about the character of the circuit. Hopefully, the condition was also supported by the excellent performance of the car," said the rookie in the GP2 event.
Previously, Sean has been driving all over the race weekend in Formula Renault 3.5 where Sean total scored seven of the successful three times to finish in the top 10. This season, Sean is also participating the GP2 championship race which is the main support for the Formula Renault 3.5 race.
